Luv ya,

Wow - you hit it on the head with "8 out of every 10 people who are in here [hospital] could have prevented their need for being here". It truly is about the choices we make in every moment - whether we order that next drink, pop in our mouths a second helping of the birthday cake, or decide the rain outside is just not conducive to our exercise regime today.

Great to do what you can to stay away from the Medical System... but like I said, thank God they're there for emergencies.

I haven't thought this all the way through, but I think that in a nutshell: I have faith (heh heh) in the science per se of modern western medicine but I don't trust the capitalism and politics in which it is embedded.

Hey Nima,
It's good to hear that Maria is on the mend. I think the sickness care system really is fundamentally flawed in the way you suggest. It's kinda cynical but an IT prof back in undergrad used to say that if you really wanted to know how a system worked, you needed to follow the money. And the billing system in our health care system SUCKS. We've all heard it. There's no incentive for physicians and nurses to spend more time with each person (allowing them to really understand the nature of hir concern) and are poorly compensated for the least invasive, most preventive approach. They are highly compensated for invasive and/or quick fixes. I think this is highly frustrating for EVERYone involved.
bye for now,
Karen

Hi Nima, so sorry to hear about Maria's ordeal, but glad that she is better now. I know how terrible it is in hospitals having spent my fair share of time in them. Glad she didn't need surgery! M&D
